Julie Payne
Julie has performed in films, television, radio commercials, animation, radio plays, theatrical plays and musicals, improvisational cabaret theater, performance art, and looping since about 1970. Her earliest radio work was mostly with Walt Kraemer, who produced his celebrated, improvised commercial campaigns for McDonald's, Fotomat, CalTrain, and others.
She began improvising professionally with The Committee in San Francisco, and can still be seen making up her own words in HBO's ""Curb Your Enthusiasm"" from time to time, as Cheryl's Mom. Her television adventures include eight pilots and countless episodes from ""Laverne and Shirley"" to ""NYPD BLue."" The old ""Garfield"" seasonal specials (as Liz the Veterinarian) and ""US Acres"" were opportunities to work with Jim Davis.
Odder, less mainstreem work includes: ""The HIstory of White People in America"" and ""Portrait of a White Marriage,"" directed by Harry Shearer; ""Twice Upon a Time,"" a ravishing, never-released cult-approved animated film by John Korty; and most recently, ""Cruel But Necessary,"" an indie flick making the film festival rounds, directed by Sol Rubinek. All of these features improvised dialog.
