Bill Barretta
Originally from Yardley, Pennsylvania, Bill Barretta was trained at The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City under the late, great Sanford Meisner (of the Meisner technique) and would later go on to enjoying a lasting and fulfilling career he could have never imagined.
Barretta began his professional career in 1991, landing the lead suit performer role of Earl Sinclair on the hit television series Dinosaurs, a first time ABC collaboration between the Walt Disney Company and The Jim Henson Company. Through these newfound professional and personal relationships with many of the Henson performers, he would later go on to join the Henson company and become one of the iconic Core performers for The Muppets.
His vast range and variety of characters over the last 30 yrs, include Pepe the King Prawn, Johnny Fiama, Bobo the Bear and Big Mean Carl, to name a few - and he is honored to carry on several of Jim Henson's iconic and beloved creations: Rowlf the Dog, The Swedish Chef and Dr. Teeth.
Bill has also been involved with numerous productions outside of The Muppets, such as, Jackie the Jackal in Kim Possible, Commando from Steven King’s Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Thunderdell the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story Mini-Series (which he also co-wrote and received a Saturn Award), Lonnie DuFrane & Mr. Frumpus in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Detective Phil Phillips in The Happytime Murders.
Barretta continues his multi-hyphenate career with collaborations as a Writer, Producer, Director and Actor for various live shows, commercials, specials, streaming series and social media content such as Long John Silvers, Pizza Hut, Subway, Lipton, Toyota, PAM, Adidas, Geico, Lady Gaga Holiday Special, Dancing With The Stars, Video Game Awards, and as Creator and Executive Producer of his most recent 2023 Emmy award winning Disney+ series, The Muppets Mayhem.
