Bobby Milhouse

Born and raised in Bradenton, Fl, Bobby began his dance education at the Manatee School for the arts at 10 years old. At this humble performing arts school he learned classical ballet, then jazz, modern/lyrical, and eventually graduated to ballroom dancing at 13. The intricacies and excitement of group ballroom dance performances mesmerized him. Watching multiple couples move seamlessly across the dance floor in unison ignited his passion for performance and he immediately began classes and joined The Spat Cats, a local ballroom performance group.

The Spat Cats performed all over the state of Florida from local nursing and retirement homes around Sarasota County up to the famed Van Wezel Perfoming Arts Center. Their signature dance routine was a Lindy Hop number performed to the song “In The Mood” (by Glenn Miller) filled with exciting aerials, spins, and fancy footwork.

In addition to weekly group performances, Bobby competed in amateur competitions. He won Gold in five dance international style competitions in Florida (Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, and Jive). Then he won gold in the southern regional competition in Atlanta.

After graduating high school Bobby attended the New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts in 2007. At this time he realized that teaching dance—sharing the joy and expression of movement—brought much more satisfaction than individual competition. Since then he has been a dance instructor offering private and group lessons in Florida, New York City, Northern California, and Los Angeles.

Bobby also choreographs dance routines for events and parties, having developed numerous bride-and-groom first dances as well as wedding party group numbers, group dance events for large corporate gatherings, birthday party dances for teenagers and adults. He also provides personalized in-home one-on-one dance instruction around the Los Angeles Area.

Bobby believes that ANYONE can dance from the seasoned performers looking to improve their form to novices who are just looking to have a little fun. His positive spirit, encouraging voice, and unwavering patience has allowed him to prove that fact to countless students over the years. Sharing that process and those accomplishments with his students and friends are among his greatest achievements.
