Lenore Zann

Award-winning actor Lenore Zann burst onto the entertainment scene at the age of 19 with her powerful portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the rock opera Hey Marilyn! She has since performed across North America and in Europe with hundreds of credits as an actor and singer in Film, TV, Theatre, Radio, and Animation.

Beloved by fans around the world for as the iconic voice of “Rogue” in the 90’s X-Men: The Animated Series, Lenore is currently reprising her role in Marvel’s smash hit series X-Men ‘97, currently streaming on Disney+.

Other favourite animation roles include Aisha Clan-Clan in the anime series Outlaw Star, Star Catcher in My Little Pony, Dottie the Toothfairy, and many more.

Lenore is also an author, first writing and performing in her own one-woman play The Marilyn Tapes, which premiered at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax followed by an extended run at Don’t Tell Mama’s Cabaret in New York, and an Off-Broadway production at The Blue Heron Theatre, all to critical acclaim. Her first published short story Zann and the Art of Tennis can be found in the anthology, “Nova Scotian Book of Fathers” published by Pottersfield Press, who are also publishing her upcoming memoir, A Rogue’s Tale, in fall 2024, with Distribution by Nimbus Publishing and available on Amazon.

A professional singer with a strong belt that has brought many an audience to their feet, Lenore also writes songs, and first album Change the World has recently been made available on Spotify, with a brand new album, Strong Enough, soon to be released. Some of her original tunes can also be heard on film soundtracks.

Recent feature film roles include “Bevette“ in filmmaker Thom Fitzgerald’s Stage Mother, receiving two “Best Supporting Actress” nominations performing with Academy Award Nominee Jacki Weaver and Jackie Beat; “Gladys Madone” in The Madones; and “Gram Cracker” in Aaron Schoenke’s Space Bears, an animated musical feature film for children to be released in 2025.

A tireless champion of the Arts and Culture, Women, Diversity, and Social and Environmental Justice, Lenore put her acting career aside for 12 years (from 2009-2021) to serve for four consecutive terms as an elected official in Canada, winning elections for seats in two different levels of government: as a federal Member of Parliament (MP) with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and as a Provincial (State) Member of the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia.

During her time as an elected representative Lenore introduced over 30 bills addressing a variety of social justice and environmental issues and was appointed to a number of important roles. These include Ministerial Assistant to the Ministers of Arts & Culture, Environment & Climate Change, and House Leader/Deputy Premier, Caucus Chair, and federal Women’s Caucus Co-Chair.

Two of Lenore’s Private Member’s Bills, “Act to Address Environmental Racism”, introduced in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 2014, and “National Strategy to Address Environmental Racism and Environmental Justice Act”, introduced in Ottawa in 2020, have been widely hailed as the first Bills of their kind in North America.

Lenore is the grateful recipient of several awards: Earl Grey Public Speaking Contest (Gold), ACTRA Award for Best Actor in a Radio Drama, Duke of Edinburgh Gold Lifetime Award for Service to Community & Country, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Arts and Culture.
