Sarah Elmaleh

Sarah Elmaleh is best known for her work in videogames, notably player characters Katie in Gone Home and the Freelancer in upcoming BioWare title, Anthem. She can be heard in critically acclaimed indies (Pyre, Where the Water Tastes Like Wine, Galak-Z), as well as huge AAA titles (For Honor, Final Fantasy XV, Call of Duty: Black Ops III). She has also starred in two games-themed dramas for BBC Radio 4: as a gamer hotshot in Drone Pilots, and as a passionate indie game maker in Game Over, which she helped develop.

When she isn’t voicing videogames – or playing them, or talking about them – Sarah is using her voice to advocate for a variety of games creation causes, from diversity to working conditions to collaborative best practices for actors and developers. She also occasionally shares her game voiceover knowledge and expertise through teaching and consulting, and helps to organize games events, frequently acting as ambassador across disciplines and creator communities. Sarah has been a speaker at such prominent events as the Game Developers Conference and the Tribeca Film Festival, curated a selection of panels at Games for Change, and acted as Game Maker Relations and producer of sponsored programming at IndieCade. She has also served as a recurring IGF Audio juror and co-host/director of the IndieCade Awards.

For as long as she can remember, Sarah has been enthralled by the power of both games and the human voice to connect people to ideas, and to each other. The desire to help cultivate this intimate sense of connection drives her artistic work and community initiatives alike. Whether lo-fi passion piece or grand blockbuster, Sarah brings her lifelong love of games and a decade of games-specific acting experience and insight to projects. Creatively, she is energized by games that model authentic human dynamics in novel, playful settings and systems. Games that share or critically contribute to visions of inclusivity and justice – values close to her heart – are also especially exciting to her.

Sarah’s acting roots and earliest loves are classical theater and radio drama, and she has been heard on radio and TV, in commercials, promos, and penultimate show episodes. She spent a summer with the British American Drama Academy, sailed several seasons on tall ships, started a Japanese drumming course at Wesleyan University, and can be found most evenings dancing Argentine tango.
